Lamya Al Kiyumi is a Omani mother of three children who all go to ABA. They are in grades 3, 5 and 9. She holds a Masters Degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland.
Having worked for the United Nations Population Fund, Lamya brings with her vast experience in the fields of sustainable programming, Women Empowerment and Gender Equality, raising awareness for youth as well as managing and fundraising for national programs and liaising with various stakeholders.
Lamya believes in giving back to the community and has founded as well as sat on the boards of numerous NGOs in Oman. She also helped establish the PTA in her previous school and was President of that association until she left. In ABA, Lamya was a Home Room parent for all her children’s classrooms, and continues to volunteer whenever possible.
Lamya believes in the importance of a strong partnership between school and home and in its role in the advancement of a child. She believes in providing a safe and enabling environment where all our students can thrive and achieve academic excellence.
Lamya sees her role on the board as an opportunity to help develop and strengthen ABA with the challenges it will face in these changing times. She strongly believes that in supporting the School administration, teachers and staff, and working hand in hand with the Head of School, ABA will remain the leading IB institute in Oman and become a center of excellence in the region.
