Alan Dillon joined the ABA Board in 2019 as the British Embassy representative.
Alan served for 12 years in the Royal Marines before joining the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 2000. He has worked in Afghanistan, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia and Oman, interspersed by spells in various parts of Whitehall, mostly covering the Gulf and South Asia regions.
He has a BSc in Social Sciences and a MA in Terrorism. He is the author of 'Captain Shakespear', a biographical account of the early 20th Century Political Agent and precis of the British Empire's relationship with the House of Saud. He enjoys paddle-boarding in his free-time.
