Beyond the Classroom

Preparing students for an increasingly global society, ABA's activities and co-curricular opportunities extend beyond the classroom and across international borders. With a broadly focused curriculum, exceptional resources and international memberships, global connections instill values such as empathy, independence, adaptability and cultural understanding.

Today, we must plan for technologies and professions not yet invented that will likely be key to defining global interaction in the future. We need to help our students find comfort with change and develop a genuine sense of flexibility and adaptability. Experiences as members of problem-solving teams and meaningful opportunities to travel and to see and experience the rich diversity of our world build this foundation.

Every activity in school life plays a significant role in development of students. Co-curricular activities are an essential part of school life and helps in enhancing learning process of students at school. ABA's co-curriculars are designed and balanced with academic curriculum so that every student gets to learn beyond subjects.

Innovative programs with an international focus have been integrated into the school’s curricular and co-curricular activities, from Elementary right up to Grade 12. Our IB Curriculum, the Duke of Edinburgh Awards, intercultural, Athletics and Service trips, and a multi-cultural student body, all function together to prepare students to be active members of the world community. The values and skills of global citizenship are all reflected in our programs across all areas of the school.

AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES AND CLUBS

The school offers a wide range of activities and clubs outside school hours.  These range from athletics to yearbook, badminton to volleyball, and many others.  There are a wide range of activities to choose from during the school year. An updated list of activities will be provided with the weekly Newsletter and on the Parent and student portals activities section of the school website.

The program on offer varies seasonally, at the mercy of the weather, as well as from year to year depending on supply and demand.  A few of the more specialized clubs may require a fee but most are provided within the school framework at no extra charge.

The success of each activity depends very much on the enthusiasm and commitment of the students and their parents.  Students are encouraged to attend at least one activity per semester.

ATHLETICS

From our Elementary School physical education curriculum to our championship-winning varsity sports teams, ABA understands the importance of physical activity in health. With our team of coaches emphasising teamwork and sportsmanship, students continue to grow even when not in the classroom.

At ABA we will strive to maximise participation.  Our school follows a ‘sports for all’ philosophy preparing our students for an active and collaborative journey that will last a lifetime.  We focus on the importance of team spirit, responsibility, dedication and sportsmanship.  Winning and losing are secondary over how the game was played and how we represent ourselves and our school.
